Having seen and experienced bullying, toxic managers and teams, crushing financial deficits, mergers, and workplace, legal and community war-zones, Joan shares concrete lessons from years working as a conflict leader and specialist, mediator and trainer when working with clients.

A reluctant, conflict-avoiding, shy kid, Joan was thrust into leadership at 13 and went on to become the first woman in many positions, finding herself leading teams and organizations of thousands, with multi-million dollars in budget and resources – interestingly, both on land and at sea on ice-breakers, buoy tenders and search and rescue vessels.
